The Friends of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 to help create a continuous, paved, multi-use trail along the Merrimack River in Concord, New Hampshire.

Working in partnership with the City of Concord, businesses, foundations, public agencies, and hundreds of local supporters, the Friends of the MRGT have helped move the trail from a long-term vision to a growing public asset.

Since our founding in 2011, we have raised more than $788,000 from individuals, businesses, foundations, and agencies, and helped secure millions more in public grant funding for trail planning, design, construction, and land acquisition.

Our role is simple but essential: we advocate, raise funds, build public support, and help keep the next sections moving forward.

Today, completed trail sections at Terrill Park and in the Sunflower fields near the Post Office show what is possible. The next steps — including the Riverside Connection, the Penacook Rail Trail, and the future Terrill Park boardwalk — will bring Concord closer to a continuous off-road trail linking neighborhoods, parks, businesses, downtown, and the larger Granite State Rail Trail network.
