Cornfields Campaign

Background

In late 2020, the cost of constructing a 3/4-mile section of the MRGT was estimated to be $550,000. Based on that estimate, in November 2021, the City of Concord received a $275,000 federal grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which needs to be matched dollar for dollar.

At that time, we set out to raise $275,000 to match the grant in 2023. Since then, the construction cost estimate has gone from $550,000 to $571,000. So we have had to add $21,000 to last year's goal, bringing our goal to $296,000.

Since 2021, Friends of the MRGT has raised about $167,000, which has been set aside for this project, leaving about $129,000 to go.

Year-End Campaign, 2022

The 2022 Giving Tuesday Campaign is the third phase of a larger fundraising campaign, called "Cross the Cornfields".

Our goal for this campaign is to raise $60,000 by January 10.

All donations received between November 29 (Giving Tuesday) and January 10 will go toward the construction of a 3/4-mile section of the Merrimack River Greenway Trail in the cornfields south of the Concord Post Office.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant in Concord has generously donated 40 gift cards, which we will raffle off to donors. The more you donate, the better your chances!

Donors’ names will be entered once per $25 worth of donation. For example, a $25 donor will be entered once and a $100 donor will be entered four times.
While all donations are appreciated, the minimum donation to be entered into the gift drawing is $25.
There will be two drawings. On January 1, we will draw 30 winners based on donations received* by December 31. On January 11, we will draw 10 more winners from the donations received* between January 1 and January 10.
Donors can enter both drawings by donating at least $25 both before midnight on December 31st and between January 1st and 10th.
Winners will be drawn randomly.
Winners will be limited to one gift card per drawing but winners in the first drawing who donate between January 1 and January 10 will be entered into the second drawing.
Winners will be notified by email, then gift cards will be mailed, so make sure we have both your email address and your postal address.
Names of winners will be posted on this page on the dates of the drawings.
Gift cards must be used between January 1, 2023 and February 28, 2023. They can be used at any Margaritas Mexican Restaurant location and they can only be used for in-restaurant orders for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Trustees of Friends of the MRGT will not be eligible.
* Received means electronically or in our PO Box by the time the lobby closes at the end of the day before the drawing.
