Merrimack River Greenway Trail
About the project
The Merrimack River Greenway Trail (MRGT) is a planned 12.7-mile shared-use trail following the Merrimack River through Pembroke, Concord, and Boscawen. When complete, the trail will connect neighborhoods, parks, downtown Concord, and regional trail networks while providing safe off-street opportunities for walking, bicycling, and year-round recreation.
The trail is being developed in phases through partnerships between the City of Concord, state and federal funding programs, and community support.

Progress So Far

Phase 1 – Terrill Park (Completed 2020)
First completed segment establishing the foundation of the trail system and demonstrating strong community support.

Phase 2 – Sunflower Section (Completed 2024)
Important extension improving access to the Merrimack River and demonstrating continued project momentum.

Next Section – Riverside Connection
An easement over the parking lot, donated by the owner of 6 Loudon Road and a successful fundraising campaign in 2025, makes the next phase ripe for construction in 2026.
